Diane Mary (Donahue) Caruso, 55, of Pond Street died at home on Monday, June 10 following a long respiratory illness. Born in Somerville on September 29, 1957, she was the daughter of the late John H. Donahue and Ellen T. ( O’Halloran) of Plymouth.

Diane enjoyed her time as a baker, but her true happiness came in sharing in her daughter’s successes. A single mother, Diane had a flair for interior design and fashion. She enjoyed spending the winter months in the Florida sun, shopping, taking trips to the casinos and driving fast cars and bikes. She also worked at the Linda Faye Griffin house assisting many young women get back on their feet and was an inspiration to many. She was a long time friend of Bill W.

She leaves her daughter Kelley L. Palmer and her fiancé Jordan McAdams of Grafton; sister Margaret Donahue of Plymouth; and nephew Ronald A. “RJ” Cappola, Jr. of Plymouth.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Diane’s life from 4-8 p.m. this Friday, June 14, at her daughter Kelley’s home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Worcester Area Intergroup, Alcoholics Anonymous, 100 Grove St., Suite 314, Worcester, MA 01605 .

SPENCER: William H. Bigwood 80, of Greenville St., died Wednesday, June 19 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Mary A. (Benoit) Bigwood, three sons William J. Bigwood of Leicester, Michael C. Bigwood and his wife Beulah of New York, NY, and Christopher K. Bigwood of Centerville, four grandchildren; Will, Amelia, Colby and Michael Bigwood, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Waldo Bigwood, Jr. and Everett Bigwood, and his sister Joyce Latour.

Bill worked at Flexcon Co. in Spencer for 20 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of Waldo and Marion (Howe) Bigwood. He graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer and later served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22 at 11 a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. A calling hour will precede the service on Saturday from 10 to 11a.m. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer.

SPENCER: Marie M. (Jette) Berthiaume 93, formerly of Howe Village, died Wednesday, June 19 at The Meadows of Leicester after a long illness.

She was the wife of Lionel W. Berthiaume who died in 1995. She leaves her son Robert F. “Stein” Berthiaume and his wife Martha , a grandson Robert L. Berthiaume and his fiancé Alanna, granddaughter Alyson M. Russo and her husband David all of Spencer, great grandsons Nicholas F. and Mason R. Russo, many nieces and nephews including two nieces Nancy Kemp of Leicester and Susan Martens of Pownal, Me., and a nephew John Mulhall of Spencer. She is predeceased by sisters Frances Mulhall and Eleanor Collette and a great granddaughter Abigail M.Russo.

Marie was a sales clerk at the former Hodes Supermarket in Spencer for many years, retiring in 1976. Previously, she worked at the former Gaudette’s Market in Spencer. She was a member of Mary,Queen of the Rosary Parish.

Born in Spencer, she was the daughter of Napoleon E. and Mary (Melia) Jette.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 24 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, from 4 to 6p.m. in the funeral home. He leaves his wife of 16 years Elizabeth “Betty” A. (Stinehour) Gonzalez, a son Eric Gonzalez and his wife Cheryl of Hudson, three daughters Alicia Dumas and her husband Robert of Upton, Michelle Porter and her husband Russell of Holden and Sonja Gonzalez and her husband Jay Hoyt of Epping, N.H., two brothers Jose Gonzalez of Canada and Alberto Gonzalez of Costa Rica, two sisters Maria Isabella Wong De Gonzalez and Lucia Gonzalez both of Costa Rica, a step-son Ret. Col. Brian Foley U.S. Air force of Newport News, VA, three step-daughters Sarah Al-Gharabally of Kuwait, Linda Gregoire of Spencer and Lisa Foley of Shrewsbury, 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by His first wife Millicent A. (Costello) Gonzalez in 1994, a step-daughter Susan Foley in 1995 and a sister Carmen M. Murcia.

Mr. Gonzalez was born in Costa Rica, son of Rafael E. and Elizabeth A. (Lutz) Gonzalez. He graduated from Washington State University with Bachelors degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. He was an owner/ engineer of Duxbury Controls Zadok Engineering in Holden before retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Worcester Assembly of God Church and a former member of Holden Chapel. He served as a prison minister at the Worcester County House of Corrections in West Boylston. He sang tenor with the Worcester Salisbury Singers and Worcester Chorus. He was an accomplished “Wood Turner” and belonged to the Worcester Craft Center and the Wood Turners Association. He displayed his wood crafting at area colleges and venues.

A Resurrection Service will be held Tuesday, July, 2 at 11:00 in the Assembly of God Church, 30 Tyler Prentice Road, Worcester. Burial will be private in Evergreen Cemetery, East Brookfield. Resurrection calling hour will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM in the church preceding the service. Memorial donations may be made to Voice of the Martyrs, P.O. Box 443, Bartlesville, OK 74005. J. He was the husband of Shirley Ann (Derie) McKeon who died in 2004. He leaves two sons Schaun M. McKeon and his wife Eleyi of Bethlehem, NH., and Kevin J. McKeon and his wife Anita of Tyronaza, Arkansas, his daughter Kellie I. Scartozzi of Homosassa, Fl, a brother Daniel McKeon and his wife Sandy of Winchendon, five sisters Carol Gleason of Auburn, Ellen Goodrow, Eleanor Latham and her husband Ken and Susan Rybicki and her husband Stan all of Spencer, Beverly Sheehan and her husband Tom of Somersworth, NH., several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Butch was an oil burner technician for several area heating and oil delivery companies for many years.

Born in Worcester , he was the son of Bernard F. McKeon, Sr. and Frances (Dean) McKeon. He later served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 5 at 2p.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. A calling hour will precede the service from 1 to 2p.m. Burial will take place at a later date in Central Cemetery , Millbury.

WARE: Hollis L. Chapman, 78, of Church Street died Monday, July 8 in his son Brian’s home after an illness.

His wife, Barbara A. (Carey) Chapman died in 2011. He leaves two sons Brian L. Chapman and his wife Stacey of Ashburnham and Steven J. Chapman and his wife Marilyn of Turners Falls, a daughter Kelly A. Kaminski of Grafton, three grandchildren Colton, Caitlin & Brendan and his beloved cat Isabelle.

Mr. Chapman was born in Washington, D.C., son of Hollis W. and Leona (Mason) Chapman. He was an envelope cutter at the Worcester Envelope Co. for over 30 years before retiring. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a long time Little League coach in Spencer. He loved to fish and enjoyed watching old movies. He and his wife enjoyed vacationing at Crystal Lake in Vermont.

A Graveside service will be held Friday, July 12 at 2:00 PM in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 10 from 5:00-7:00 PM in J. SPENCER: Lorraine M. (Gagne) Radzinski, 89, of Howe Village formerly of South Spencer Road died Wednesday, July 10 in the Life Care Center of Auburn after an illness.

Her husband Benjamin J. Radzinski died in 1999, her first husband John M. Johnson died in 1976. She leaves a son John F. Johnson and his wife Nina of Bedford, TX, a daughter Martha E. Shurtz of Flint, MI, a step-daughter Carol Shemeth of Spencer, a sister Lucille Wloch of Spencer, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two brothers Earl and Arthur Gagne.

Lorraine was born in Worcester, daughter of Arthur and Lucinda (Bourgeois) Gagne. She was a machine operator at Dienes Corp.(formerly Novelty Tool) in Spencer before retiring in 1985. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish. She was active with the Golden Age Club and the South Spencer Community Club. She was a past President of the Gaudette-Kirk Post 138 American Legion Ladies Auxilary.

The funeral will be held Monday, July 15 from J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Her husband Charles S. Putnam, Jr. died in 2003. She leaves two daughters Constance P. Halfpenny of Woodbury, MN and Judith P. Donathan of Orleans, 4 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Putnam was born in Worcester, daughter of Ernest E. and Bessie P. (Parmelee) Deyo. She graduated from North High School and Worcester State College. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Spencer where she was a church secretary, co-founder of various prayer and study groups, she sang in their choir for 10 years, was a member of the Women’s Fellowship, the Forthnightly Club and the Monday Club. She did clerical work for the Worcester Ecumenical Council for several years. She worked at the Richard Sugden Library.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, Aug. 22 at 11:00 AM in the First Congregational Church of Spencer, 205 Main Street, Spencer. Lavallee, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Grafton, Richard A. Lavallee, Ronald M. Lavallee and his wife Cheryl, and Rene D. Lavallee all of Spencer, three grandchildren Lillian Lavallee, Joel and Madison Natale, and many nieces and nephews.

Ray was a laminator at Flexcon Co. in Spencer for 30 years, retiring in 2008. He previously worked at the former King’s Supermarket in Spencer.

Born in Spencer he was the son of the late Barbara T. (Maynard) Lavallee. He later graduated from David Prouty High School in 1978. He enjoyed classic cars, driving his “old tractor”, playing cribbage, fishing, watching wildlife and spending time with his family.

SPENCER: Wayne J. Pepler 66, of R. Jones Rd., died Saturday, August 17 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his wife of 41 years, Nancy L. (DelPrete) Pepler, his son Mark W. Pepler and his wife Michelle of Scarborough, ME., his daughters Amy M. Pepler of Belmont and Lindsay A. Burrowbridge and her husband Ryan of Kittery, ME., his father Clarence J. Pepler of Spencer, five grandchildren; Madeline, Owen and Emerson Pepler and Ayla and Harper Burrowbridge, several nieces and nephews.

Wayne was a field representative for Agri-Mark in West Springfield for 40 years, retiring in 2011.

He was born in Woonsocket, RI, the son of the late Rita (Robert) Pepler and graduated from Burrillville, (RI) High School and attended the University of Georgia where he played football. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish.

Wayne was an avid fly fisherman and outdoorsman, pursuing his passion from the shores of Harker’s Island, NC, to the Gaspe Peninsula, Quebec. He was often found at his second home on the Swift River in Ware. When his fly rod was not firmly in hand, he enjoyed spending time with his family and cheering for all of the New England Sports teams.

A Memorial Mass will be held for Wayne at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 22 in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. SPENCER – Brother Albert James, OCSO, a Trappist monk of St. Joseph’s Abbey, 167 North Spencer Road, died Monday, August 19, 2013 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester after a long illness.

Born Albert Gerard James in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1939, he attended LaSalle College in Philadelphia, and entered the Trappist monastery of St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer in 1961, professing his vows in 1964. He served the monastery faithfully over many years as Sub-master of novices, Director of The Holy Rood Guild, Distribution Coordinator for Cistercian Publications and Trappist Preserves, Porter at the Abbey’s bookstore and gift shop, Dispatcher, and, in his spare time, as a fine artist and a lover of music, especially operas.

As well as his brothers at the Abbey, Brother Albert is survived by his sisters, Mary Sobczak, Theresa James and Gertrude Saunders and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 22 at 2 P.M. at St. Joseph’s Abbey. Burial is in the Abbey cemetery. J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terrace, Spencer, is directing arrangements.

She leaves her daughters Jean M. Abrams and her husband Richard of Westborough and Susan E. Larson and her husband Lee Clifford of Mashpee, three grandchildren Keith Abrams and his wife Annie of San Francisco, Julie Abrams Melia and her husband Michael Melia of So.Windsor, Ct., and Alycia Larson of West Yarmouth, three great grandchildren Daycia, Tom & Maggie.

Born in Leicester, she was the daughter of Antonio and Beatrice (Aucoin) Forgit, and later graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer and attended Becker Junior College in Worcester. She was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish in Spencer.

Gloria was a very social person who enjoyed music, dancing, bingo, close friends and especially spending time with her family.

SPENCER: Jeannette A. (Paradis) Bishop, 82, of Terkanian Drive died Thursday, Aug. 29 in her home after an illness.

Her husband of 58 years Wilfred W. Bishop, died in 2011. She leaves a daughter Nancy A. Bishop and her companion Mark LaPierre of Spencer, a brother Richard Paradis of Rhinelander, Wisc., a sister Claire Tetreault of Spencer and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bishop was born in Spencer, daughter of Adelard and Evelyn (Cournoyer) Paradis. She worked for the Spencer School System in the cafeteria for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing cards, bowling and spending time with family and friends.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Sept. 3 from J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 9:30-10:30 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608 or to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515.

OBITUARY-SPENCER:

Jeffrey P. DeCoff 52, passed away peacefully at home on Friday Sep. 6. He is the son of Joseph E. DeCoff, Sr. and Claire M. (Deshaies) DeCoff who passed in 2001. Jeffrey leaves his brothers Jude T. DeCoff and his wife Carolyn and daughter Jennifer and sons Timothy and Brendon; his brother Joseph E. DeCoff II and his wife Cheryl and sons Gabriel and Joseph E. Decoff, III all of Spencer, his sister Darlene Conroy and her husband Vincent and daughter Gabrielle of West Bridgewater, several nieces and nephews. Jeff leaves several godchildren, including his godchild Matthew Collette and many, many friends.

He graduated from Worcester Industrial Technical Institute and Bay State College with a two year degree in engineering in 1982. He was a graduate of David Prouty H.S. (1980). Jeffrey was employed as a pipefitter journeyman welder for over 30 years and was a member of the local Plumber and Pipefitter’s No. 4.

Jeffrey was truly a wonderful brother, uncle and friend. He traveled and worked on numerous power plants, hospitals and building projects. He loved to scuba dive and catch lobsters.

Jeff loved life and had many adventures. Every second when he woke up to every night when his eyes shut, was a great day. He changed so many people’s lives for the better and you couldn’t ask for a better man. Jeff was a kind man who could never say no to anyone. He just loved to help and care for people. Every time you saw Jeff was a great time. He always had the greatest smile and was the happiest person we’ve ever known. We are grateful for the many happy memories he gave us. May he rest in peace.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are Friday, Sept. 13 from 4 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mary, Queen of the Rosary Food Pantry, 60 Maple St., Spencer, 01562.

SPENCER: Jaime L. Figueroa, of 17 Bell Street passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013 following an extended illness. He was at his home surrounded by family. He leaves his beloved wife of 51 years, Doris A. (Lebron) Figueroa and four children; Jaime Figueroa and his wife Colleen of Marblehead, David Figueroa and his wife Kish of Charlton, Ben Figueroa and his wife Andrea of Holden and Laura Figueroa of Worcester. He also leaves six grandchildren. A private Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. J.
